Don't worry I won't bore you daily with how my resolutions are going but I wanted to add a few things. I have almost finished my first book of the New Year, "Swan Thieves", and have enjoyed it thoroughly. It has kept my mind off shopping and helped me relax over this nice holiday break.
Rob and I have decided that it is important to continue to strive towards "mastery" of something. We brainstormed and both decided that we were going to "master" ballhandling. This will aide in my shopping resolution because it will keep me busy as I will need to get my practice in daily. Neither of us were every "great" ballhandlers and that is why we decided that it is never too late. I play in a women's recreation league on Thursday's and we both play in a men's church league on Saturday mornings so our new skills will be helpful.
I'm not sure how long it is going to take to "master" ballhandling but we are going to make a full effort at this. Maybe we will work at it for the entire year, maybe half a year. We are not sure yet. We even downloaded a great app for Rob's ipod that is taking us step by step to help better our ballhandling. Session 1 didn't go that great. Rob and I got in a fight about a specific drill and he said I was going to fast and that I always hurry ahead. Hopefully tomorrow will go better.
We aren't going to practice what we have always done. "If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you always got" --that being mediocracy. We are going to research new ideas and challenge ourselves to take it to the next level. For example, I have never been able to effortlessly dribble between my legs and drive in for a layup. This is one of the things that I will work to master.
Bryan, when we come visit you next fall we will have to play some one on one. I'm getting bored with kicking your butt in H-O-R-S-E anyway = ) . Now it is time to go read my book so that I can start a new one.
Good night!
